My grandfather, who served in the British navy during the war gathered a number of coins which he gave to me 50 plus years ago. I am now identifying them This coin has me stumped. It appears to have middle east writing. It is 18 mm diameter and 1 mm thick. Non metallic - looks like silver. My scale is accurate to 1 gm. It flashed 1 g and stabalized at 2 g. I would say closer to 2 than one. Would someone please help me to identify this coin.
The British Navy would certainly stop in Egypt during the war. This is a 2/10 Qirsh dated 1327 +__. The additional year would be on the other side of the coin that is difficult to read (could be a 6 (Arabic: ٦). The additional years range from 2 to 6. Those correspond to 1910 to 1914 AD. The coin was struck at 2.4 grams and is made of copper-nickel.
