I have several without mintmark.
In Krause you can read (US) and (Lt).
But where is the difference?
I can not tell where these were minted.
Propably the other coins of the Philippines have the same issue.
I think I can catalog these coins in the range of the much minted coins...
Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum
Rijkdom bestaat niet uit het hebben van veel bezittingen, maar in het hebben van weinig behoeften
Little info :
A coin with matte surfaces is one struck from dies which have been sandblasted or acid-etched, giving the entire coin a "frosted", non-shiny appearance. They have been traditionally less desired by collectors than the "regular" mirrored surface or "cameo" combination of frost and mirror.
Let us assume that the coins from circulation are of the same proportion as the mintage.
Then a handful of these beautiful coins can be divided in two groups producing the ratio: 6:1. Being so, your guess becomes stronger.

Not only the die is important. The blancs can be made of polished or non-polished alu
