Please help identify this coin...I don't know where to begin to look

Hello,

I purchased this coin as part of a group of coins, but have no idea where it might be from, or if it is genuine.

The coin is 2mm in diameter and weighs 4.26 grams.  I believe it is copper or a copper alloy due to the verdigris present on the coin.

If anyone knows what this is, I will be most grateful for the help.

Thanks,
David

Agreed that it is from Ceylon.  Region: Asia   Country: Exonumia Asia
It is not a coin, but a Ceylon Bronze Monkey God Token from around 1150 date
I inverted your first picture and can now see that it looks a little like a monkey ...

P.S. Though that was what I read somewhere anyway. There is just one coin on here ...

Says on there 12th/13th century date, and the lettering / symbols are rather similar. I see you wrote
yours is 2mm but I think you mean 2cm, which would then agree with the 19.7mm on that page.
Finally I copied the pictures from that page to compare alongside yours, in the same alignment ...

Thanks, SmartOne and ZacUK,

I was able to find a bit more about this coin, though I'm still not sure if it's genuine.  Most images I've come across show something considerably more rough around the edges.

Though, I suppose I could have lucked into a particularly nice coin.

This site was the most helpful...it indicates the coin was minted under the reign of Raja Raja I (985-1014), and rather than a monkey, it is the figure of a man (king?) seated on one side and standing on the other side of the coin.  I was never able to find the term massa used for the denomination, though.

And, it appears I can buy one like it (or something similar) for about $20 (US), so nothing terribly valuable.

Oh, and I did leave out the "0" on 20mm for the size of the coin.

Thanks for the help,
David
