I know of several Numista members who keep their banknotes on this site.

I use Colnect, but I would rather input my banknotes here.
Many of us desperately want Numista to expand to banknotes...I think they might someday. I hope we would keep asking and maybe they would give us at least a banknote forum. We have some rarely used forums, I think that a banknote forum would be popular, and possibly a great way for the powers that be, Xavier, to gauge some interest...so lets keep posting about notes, asking our note questions...I bet some of the coin people here would start asking for us to please get our own forum as well.

I wish you luck...I have no dog in this fight I neither collect bank notes nor mind if Numista had them. That being said, Xavier has on numerous occasions in the past 5 years, even with hounding, firmly stated he has no desire whatsoever to expand to notes. Trust me there have been some passionate voices for years on this subject with no luck. I think a sub forum for notes is reasonable so we shall see.
I understand...but do you remember the survey questions Xavier asked at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016? One was getting feedback about banknotes...

oh yes I do for sure... but I've not heard anything since...
It's a coin collecting website fellers. It doesn't matter how ingeniously you expand the "numis" theme until it coincides with your particular collecting interests. Dear Leader has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of cloning Numista into a Colnect umbrella type of site.

I understand that it's common for collectors of coins to also collect paper money and it would be great to be able to manage both collections on a single venue. I don't dismiss the idea just to be mean spirited. I'm not the kinda guy who would make Chuck Schumer cry! I collect stamps, it would be great if Numista included them too and I can make an equally valid case for their inclusion. They are produced by government, often using the same images found on the coinage. They have a denomination, a front (obv) and a back (rev), they are graded using the same scale as coins and banknotes, bought sold and traded through the same venues and yes, the crucial part.... they have been used as actual currency.

So, why no Numista for philatelists? Well, I'll tell y'all why-

Numista is still a work in progress. Once all the technical and cataloging issues have been addressed and all the common sense demands for improvements have been met, the scoundrels chased off..... then we can talk about expanding the scope. Until that time arrives, I'd far rather have Dear Leader spending his limited free time on making Numista the best coin website in the world. Maybe 50% of us collect banknotes, 25% stamps but 100% are coin collectors.

A further consideration is does Dear Leader have the understanding of banknotes to be able to make the thing happen? I could sit down and without too much effort make a complete list of all the features needed for a coin website, but ask me to design a website for people who collect tea bags (yes, they do exist), and you'll get nothing but a blank stare and a lot of unhappy tea baggers.

One of Xavier's least endearing traits is disappearing on a whim. Numista exists only as long as he allows it to do so. Many of you will recall the turmoil created by his year long absence not too long ago. Let's not overload the poor feller and cause another Amelia Earhart episode eh?

There's nothing preventing stamp or banknote collectors from discussing their passion on any of the forum types, you could even buy and sell them on the Swaps & Trades forum as far as I know. I've never seen any indication that the moderators frown on non-coin topics. Colnect has a separate forum category for every conceivable type of collection and predictably most of them are dormant. Let's not go down that road.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Yes my original point was that Xavier has over the last 5 years repeatedly stated he has no intention of adding notes so it wouldn't make sense to hold ones breathe while waiting for a change. Phil makes, as always, good points.
While I actively collect banknotes and have traded with many people on this site, I don't mind Numista being coins only. Sometimes it's just easier to accept things for what they are. Numista is a coin site, and a great one. I have learned a lot and expanded my coin collection greatly here. I am thrilled with it as it is.
