I was not sure where to put this since there is not a banknote forum yet...here goes... I received a bunch of banknotes recently. I love banknotes. They are every bit as artistic as some world coins.
This note is especially pretty. One rarely finds the vivid reds on a world banknote. There are exceptions...Canada...some South American notes come to mind.
I am unsure who the man is. I have no doubt I would if this note was an entry in Numista.
And the back of the note is just as fantastic! A beautiful castle and idyllic city scene. Prague? I don't know this numismatic answer since there is no numismatic banknote entries or forum on this numismatic website...
What a gorgeous note though! I thought this was an old fashioned view of whatever town it is, but then I noticed a divided highway, and on and off ramps. No cars though...
Is this an idealization of roads in this town, or is it an actual highway in an actual town?
What a fantastic piece of numismatics...
Ever hopeful numismatist...

On the back of the note at lower left is BRATISLAVA printed in the river.
The portrait is >
Ľudovít Velislav Štúr, known in his era as Ludevít Štúr, was the leader of the Slovak national
revival in the 19th century, and the author of the Slovak language standard, eventually
leading to the contemporary Slovak literary language.
P.S. Hello Beekeper - I saw your name the other day when I was adding my
three latest jetons to here, and your name was on some of the pages.
I like bees on coins/tokens/medals too! https://en.numista.com/forum/topic56192.html#p463713
Thanks for the picture. That is a nice note, I like the amount of detail they can manage on the banknotes. I have a small collection of banknotes also, even a couple with bees.
Those are nice jetons, you are lucky that I can't reach them from here. lol
You both must love the Slovenian tolarjevs then. Bees, the lines of their dance to alert the hive. And the fantastic stone hives used a millenia ago...
Won't it be nice when our search request gets us numismatic banknotes as well as coins? I can hardly wait for the day...
