It looks like there are traces of meat products in our polymer currency:

And that's true for the new British currency as well. B.

Thankfully we don't have to bite the bills to test their genuiness lol... else we'd have quite a few up in arms ... that was one of the reasons for the revolt of 1857 in the Indian subcontinent !

yes maybe canadian maccas could get in on the act-bill burger!!!!!
Lots of good points here ─ holy cow!

But the meat of the matter is that polymer is the most durable material for currency. There's no fat chance we'll ever go back to cotton.

Future generations looking back at the history of currency will know cotton was displaced by polymer ─ this is no chicken & egg situation.

That reminds me I still don't know which came first, the Chicken McNugget or the Egg McMuffin.

Too much chewing, not enough proteins. And the bills tend to slip out of the bun because of the condiments.

And thanks to derf for the link!

I think it is wasteful and shortsighted to switch from plant-based material to petroleum-based material.

I agree this is a negative point, but it needs to be taken into account that polymer lasts much longer. Still, I'd like to know the environmental impact of each, considering all the factors involved.

I don't see the big deal about it and all the complaints are just milking the situation.

I feel a smidge bad that no one is talking about the ozzie bills. Weren't they the ones who invented and market out this technological recipes. Lets not forget the land down under please, after all we are one family ;-)
This is for Cerulean:

So, it looks like it is better for the environment to go with durability.

And about ashlobo's comment:

Yes -- the Aussies were the pioneers so far as I know. I am trying to find out where the Canadian bills are printed, but I haven't yet found the answer. I read somewhere that they are (or used to be?) made in Australia, but I can't find the source any longer.

Perhaps we're wasting too much time over this, Fluke, and we will come to regret it, but there's no point crying over spilt milk.
