Openess - I missed that, and now I am giving it to you

Hi everyone.

Story first, feel free to jump down right now if you wish. A lot down, actually. :°

When I started modifying the catalogue on the eve of New Year three months ago, there was one thing I regretted, that there was, and still is some sort of ravine between users and (for newcomers) the mysterious Team. I noticed few mistakes here and there, downloaded some catalogues, and I was (and still I am) sometimes pain in the xxx of some referees. No, I will not brag about how many coins I modified and so on here. Instead, I would like to simply give out my thanks. :`

TO:
(nicknames only)

Ecapoe - For how kindly we introduced me to Catalogue modifying and for holy patience with validating all my requests

Sferreira - For how he introduced me to swapping

Imreh and Sneyoz - for patience with my numerous requests for Hungary and other countries

@josephjk and sujit_kumar - for their patience and hard work on India coinage

Mark240590 and radrick007 for their excellent work and kind and friendly approach to requests

chomp-master - for lively discussions over Roman coins and for patience with my requests

apuking - for relentless work he puts into German states catalogue

Dato Mikeladze - for expertise on Africa coinage

whitegandalf, MihajloNesic, Moi_dela_horowo, zegeri, nthn, dptashny, ngdawa, doc_man and everyone else I ever asked for some modification for their patience.

Sjoelund - for his huge work on coin varieties

Cerulean - for his awesome stats!

neilithic and all others who are forums most active members and keep it living!

pnightingale for his most thoughtful posts.

ALLRED1950 for no known reason, just look at his Exchange feedback, who could ever exclude him from such list? 0:)

And finally KennyG and Xavier for believing in me, helping me and entrusting me this position.
I hope I did not missed anyone, if so, here are thanks for every user - just in case. B)

Now to the main topic. :D

There are currently just about 600 requests pending with another 830 for individual referees. Yes, it was already worse, and it was also better. Team members have the ability to do requests for referees if they are inactive for some time but most requests are very specialized and require the work of the referee - who should have some expertise in the matter, or he is able to find out and validate requested information.

Moreover, most of the request now are those which are asking for adding new year lines or creating new coins. Such requests require and work and sometimes it takes time. One cannot be expert for everything, so just a few reminders - feel free to add new coin - just check properly if it is not in the catalogue already. If you do not know how to do that exactly, do not be afraid, we have ability to send your request for a new coins back to you with a message what should be made differently.

If you want to ask something, or request something, use appropriate forums, or use PM and ask me, or anyone else directly. :)

And no, Team members do not bite.

And do not forget, Ecapoe became catalogue administrator too. And ngdawa became a referee for Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. I think I can speak for all three of us, when I say that we will try to do our best, managing the catalogue.

Best regards,
Jarek

Keep up the good work Jarcek! I appreciate your enthusiasm to improve the catalogue, as well as your persuasion skills to have others cooperating with you.
Yes Jarcek thank you for all the work you put in to numista.
It is, what it is, or is it.
I am curious on how one becomes a refer for a nation as I would like to do so for Sealand.
It's very refreshing to find a Team Member with an interest in rebuilding the bridges between users and administrators. It's also a very sound policy which should be practiced by all. By treating others with condescension and a lack of respect it discourages many experienced numismatists from fully participating.

By broadening the pool from which referees can be picked it will inevitably lead to an increase in quality. I fully endorse your efforts.

Keep up the great work my dear Jareck.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Thanks for your kind words! :)

Since tommorow, there were few developments. Some requests were solved, so we are currently standing around 560-570. Referees requests are also down to about 800 requests.

Ecapoe also erased most of duplicate requests that piled up for several months. (If you did one, please look into Duplicate thread https://en.numista.com/forum/topic16223.html and if your was done, erase your post, so the thread would be shorter and clearer.)

Also some new token categories were created (Mostly for Euro Fantasy tokens) and a new variant was added to Malaysia 10 Sen https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces23731.html

Thank you for validating the outstanding change request dating from January 21st!

You are welcome. B)

I forgot to mention few things:

If you are creating new coin request - always fill out country! Without it, even catalogue administrators are lost, and Xavier will have to step in.

A lot of images of Turkish coins just got deleted, because they were copied from website that did NOT gave permission to use them - feel free to add them from your collections if you have them.

Pending requests - about 560. Requests for referees are down to 550.
