Cita: "taras33"Hi everybody, tell me please how much it cost. I have been looking everywhere, but any catalog does not have such coin.
This is not a regular Belgian coin, but notgeld (emergency money) from "De samenwerkende maatschappij Vooruit" from Gent. That's why it's not in regular coin catalogs.
I have found this info about the coin which is actually Austrian from the WW1 P.O.W. camp GENT see link below.
But your coin could be different as there is no image on the link.

It wasn't notgeld, but a kind of coupon, which allowed the members of the socialist party to buy bread at a lower price. (source = article by J.Priem, Belgian numismatist)
This token isn't very rare, and exists in an overdated version (1928 over 1921) too.

Hi Tony, there is no image on the link but it is the right coin we're talking about. When you put the info on Joel Anderson's page (5 francs 1921, Gent, socialist party, counterstamped) in google, the result is this coin:
BUT you mixed some things up and this coin has nothing to do with "Austrian WW1 POW coins".
When you look closely to Joel Anderson's page, you see there are three different subjects there:
- Austrian WW1 POW coins.
- Belgium notgeld.
- French notgeld.
And you made the mistake to consider the second subject as a part of the first subject.

Thanks for that, I now see where I went wrong.

Here is a picture of my clearly 1928 overdate:
And a picture of the similar 20 frank:
Obverses of the three tokens:
And here my other tokens from "De samenwerkende Maatschappij Vooruit, Gent" (my reserve scanner seems to have a problem with the zinc token although it's in VF condition):
