Here in Qatar, they re-strike almost any gold coin you can think of and they stamp it to let you know it is not an original. They are really nice, but re-strikes. They produce old sovereigns, but in 2 and 1 gram. What do you think of these, compared to the 100 year anniversary Sovereigns made by Pamp? The 100 year anniversary sovereigns are of semi-numismatic value IMO but I see jeweler buying and melting them! Here is a link showing some examples. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
Personally I don't like bullion, I'd prefer to get actual coins with a bit of history, But if that's your thing then I would buy them, the gold price is pretty low at the moment and it's sure to head northwards again before too long...so buy up now while you can.

I love both, but I prefer numismatic Gold and Silver. That is how I got started collecting. Over the last 2 years I have also started "stacking" of bullion.
I far prefer something with history....which one would you prefer?
Three of these which they pump out every year and would cost around $60, contains 3 ounces of silver
Or one of these that I picked up recently, issued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo and given as a pension to the veterans of the war, mintage 15,000 contains .6600 ounces of silver and has a book value of $50
Cita: neilithicI just noticed your username, do you play rugby?

I know which one I'd rather have
I would also go for the lower mintage commemorative. But I am also a stacker and can't get enough Maples and Eagles if they are close to spot. ( I don't mean Mill Spot ) Yes I used to play Rugby
You rubbish E-bay, but I managed to pick this up from someone who had no idea what they were selling, they had been left some coins from a relative and I picked it up for NZ$10 (6.90 euro)
That picture is actually the one from the Numista page. Mine is a little less shiny...it is however original, and I wasn't going to complain at the price of $10
I go with Commerative PM's, however, I understand it may be smarter to stack silver and gold bullion if you think the SHTF event is going to happen soon. So I am both a collector, looking for MS coins, and a stacker, buying gold and silver as close to spot as I can. Thanks for checking the vid.
Well obviously if you're into silver and gold bullion for an investment then it's probably a smart time to buy, when they're both at 5 year lows. But it's also a good time to be buying silver and gold coins.
Sovereigns were going for ridiculous prices, like well over $800 just a few years ago when gold was over $1900 an ounce. The price is far more palatable now that the price is down at around $1200. It may go lower, but I wouldn't think it would drop by too much more.
I agree, I am also buying a couple of the pamp India 100 year anniversary sovereigns each month, for about 10% over spot. They have high mintage but I like them.
