Hello,

i have this coin 20 Lire Victor Emmanuel II 1862. And it has R mark for mintage. And it is strange because as it is writen on numista link that mark should be after 1870. coins. On 1862 is usually TB.

Unfortunately I see a trend in your comments. The Numista page is correct and there should be no R on the 1862 date so I think you know the answer. They MAY be made of gold but they are not genuine sadly. Where are you aquiring them from?

Hello, yes thats why i asked, for that one Victor Emanuel III didn't even saw that difference but asked because of the damage. But this one is really strange and it was strange for me that they make counterfeit that good (for my eye) with this pretty regular coin.

My father bought about 35 coins few years ago from friend who work with gold and i was checking them as he want to give to my childer one coin each. So he has few Vreneli (restrikes and original), Napoleon III, Umberto I, Leopold II… pretty much regular stuff and years. So those two were not so I wanted to check them.

And could not find counterfeit like this. It was strange to me that they make it like this but miss mint mark for that year.

Well the good news is that they still may be made of gold. Take these two you asked about to a trusted and reputable jeweler to test for gold content and purity. There may be significant value in the gold bullion if so.

Yes. Atleast that. Will tell him and will check other coins litlle bit better and get them machine tested for purity.

Thank you.
