Statuary Bronze

I have a modification request to add a variety to a medal.

The request is to add “Statuary Bronze” as a variety, like gilt, oxidized or antique. I am unfamiliar with “Statuary Bronze” as a description and was hoping someone could shed some light on what this is.

It is listed in the book So-Called Dollars from the Pacific Coast Expositions by Jeff Shevlin, William D. Hyder as SH# 18-1 SBZ

Before it is said, I know several lines on this page should have their own pages. This was one of the early Exonumia items added and the opportunity to separate the lines with the photos included has not come available.

statuary bronzenoun: bronze whose surface has been treated with acid to produce the dark brown color frequently given to bronze statues

So aged copper alloy surface.

 Sounds like what the Royal Mint in UK did to darken bronze Farthings (¼ Penny) 

over 100 years ago, with sodium thiosulphate to make the newly-minted coins 

distinguishable from the similarly-sized Half Sovereign coins (0.7mm smaller).
