Hello everyone,
while studying the 1 soldo coins of Gorizia dated 1768 and 1769 ( N#22812 ), I noticed that Numista currently lists only one type for each year.
However, these coins actually exist in two clearly distinct types, not simple die variations:
Type 1: without flower below the shield
Type 2: with flower below the shield, and with a different shield design
These differences are not minor details but derive from different punches and different die engraving, which numismatic literature treats as separate types, not variants.

FLOWER ON SHIELD
Authoritative catalogues confirming they are different types
Two of the most important specialist references for Habsburg coinage classify them as distinct coins, each with its own catalogue number:
Carl Domanig – Die Münzen des Hauses Habsburg
1768 without flower
1768 with flower
1769 without flower
1769 with flower
Probszt – Die Münzen der Habsburger
1768 without flower
1768 with flower
1769 without flower
1769 with flower
Request
Since both Domanig and Probszt treat these as different types, and since the iconographic differences are substantial (different shield + presence/absence of flower), I kindly ask:
either to create separate Numista entries for each type or
to allow separate instances within the same year (1768 and 1769), distinguishing clearly between “with flower” and “without flower”.
This would improve accuracy and help collectors correctly identify their coins.
Thank you in advance for your attention and for the great work you do on Numista.
