Still new to this game. Just wondering if this is worth spending my money on. Thanks in advance.

Would you please confirm weight and diameter of the coin.

Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Sorry am I missing something here? that's a British shilling. The bust doesn't fit the one in the catalog because they modified it to look less ‘bullhead’ like, in metal detecting circles 'you can't beat a bit of bully' is a saying when you dig them up, a reference to a British game show.

Hi Reklaw. So what you are saying is what, exactly? My query was whether it was worth spending my hard earned cash on it. I got lost in your metal detecting analogies.

Since no one seems to be answering the question, i’ll do it with a little explanation on top.

To use the filters on numista you first need to identify the country of origin, in this case the united kingdom.

Then select the correct type of coin. (standard circulation coin)

After that you click on the little button below that says ”add filters”

And when you are in that menu you can add everything you know about the coin, such as ruler, (george iii)

composition, (silver)

weight, (since the coin is quite worn you can state a range instead, i picked 5-6 grams)

and diameter. (in this case not neccesary)

And voila, you have the coin: N#8476

Keep in mind that sometimes you have to dig through a lot more search results than just one.

Numista has a lot more filters than I just showed you, and with time you can learn to use a lot more of them. For value you can look through sold items on for example ebay in similar condition and easily find it there. Here is one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/357948533436?_skw=1+shilling+1818&itmmeta=01KF9ARTS98QPF2XHVTH6NJ2D7&hash=item5357652abc:g:CW8AAeSw85hpJl0a&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA0O7PUuNWmJ%2B%2BUShgI9tQz%2Fquq9VLiQf568MLOIwey8Fu8kpIMFqQnGqmNRDtQUefv3Xooo54ckCBhUYqAl7yaz4Lll3imMw%2FWJ9oifiTBQ3uSfDOO1hAhpzrYILC6e1DY3CVpP8dy6NSKNECerl%2FYiH66M7l1yux1BeDpEMXYITnC9OJJ8q0i5UqwiSQnHoytKlyjVpGAS%2FGcKXr7gOEccXHQq1F02GoSX8PDHqIO9vcJv19a%2Bs4oXJIahXYNgvSuthEFZ0S33ko7yvi1mYvrBQ%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9ys46r6Zg

:)

Twelve quid! this time last year it was a third of that, I'm not buying any silver until sanity returns.
