In addition to being a sculptor, Greco also distinguished himself as a writer and illustrator. From an early age, he showed a deep passion for ancient sculpture, starting his career at the age of thirteen as an apprentice stonemason in a company specialized in the restoration and construction of civil monuments. Although he did not attend regularly, he was able to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo and later embarked on a teaching career, taking courses at the Liceo Artistico in Via Ripetta in Rome, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, and in other prestigious institutions in Naples and Monaco.
In 1956, Greco was commissioned to build the monument to Pinocchio in Collodi (PT), a work that was very successful and contributed greatly to his fame, both in Italy and abroad. Among his other famous works are the monument to Pope John Giovanni
Prestigious museums such as the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow dedicated entire halls to him, exhibiting both his sculptures and graphic works. In Japan, at the Hakone Open-air Museum, the “Greek Garden” was established in his honor. His creations are present in both national and international museum collections.
