Myanmar banknotes (especially for novice numismatists and notaphilists)

Myanmar is the only country in Asia and possibly in the world that does not have BOTH signature and date, that even communist and socialist countries like the former Soviet Union, the current countries of North Korea, Laos, and Vietnam have their dates on their banknotes but do not have signatures. Japanese and South Korean banknotes do not have a date, but they have a different type of signature type which is stamping.

Myanmar used to have signatures on their banknotes until the 1960s, and since then they do not have one even the date.

But thanks to Numista and banknote books, they could identify the exact issuing date of these banknotes. However, some Burmese numismatists and notphilists  still do not have internet access or books related to the manner especially on war-torn places in Myanmar. It is sad how a country currently in coup does not even have dates or even signatures on their banknotes.

The current Mao notes of China have no signature or date either.

The current Mao notes of China have no signature or date either.

But the date on the reverse (currently 2019) is frozen.

(unfortunately I don't have an image of the reverse!)

I like the large size of my common 25 Kyats note P-59. Its shape is boxy (like British notes) & the back has interesting design described as

Pyinsa Rupa or KeacheakSei (Gajasingha), a mythical animal made up of five animals: elephant, bullock, horse, carp and toe-nayar dragon.

by Numista's data.  I got my note because it is a radar.  Later, I wanted to pick up some earlier Myamar notes (1953 P-42 to the P-55) but just never got around to it. I think they have some incredible designs & many are quite undervalued IMO.

I forgot about that

I finally got around to picking up this little P-46 1 Kyat without staple holes:
