1862 1/2 cent authentic or counterfeit? [resuelto]

Hello all, I need help to determine if this coin is real. Genuine examples are somewhat pricey I believe. Some of the details as well as the coin in general seems off. Thanks

Most likely you are answering your own question. From looking at the portrait, I immediately see that the ear isn’t that of a minted coin, but a strange casting attempt. I do not have the coin in hand, cannot compare the weight, diameter or thickness. You can do all of that yourself - afterwards with that information trust your gut.

I think it's authentic, but corroded and cleaned. The surfaces definitely look wrong. 

that’s the thing coin specs are correct it’s just the details that put me off

Seriously authentic? Look at the ear, that is not corrosion or wear, parts of the details of the ear are not there at all.
