After a recent swap, I finally finished one of my coin books. Great feeling!

Wow! Congrats.  Quite an accomplishment.  Are you starting on 1965-2025?

Thanks!  You betcha, it's mostly complete.

Congrats!

Congratulations!

It's always nice to complete a collection, which in many cases is actually quite difficult.

Oh I just realized what you meant.  I didn't want to flood the post with pics of every page, but the entire book is full all the way to 2013.  I have a smaller Whitman book that I've continued in up to 2025

Thank you.  It was a lot of fun and will continue to be trying to find upgrades.

Congratulations!

I'm curious to know how this album is set up. For each page is it a Mylar or similar plastic sheet that you insert into a cardboard page/wrapper?

I'm asking because I'm quite unhappy with coin albums on the market for Canadian coins. I have some ideas to create my own but I'm open to investigate new ideas before I get started.

Each page has recesses that are covered by a moveable mylar(not positive that it's mylar, but it's plastic) sheet.  It slides down exposing the recess where you can put your coin.  It's extremely sturdy and has great information, but my one complaint is that the coins have enough movement to rotate so they aren't all oriented the same.   However the advantage over the blue Whitmans is that you can see the back of the coin as well as the front.

Thanks for the explanation!

That's kind of what I expected because I could see from your second picture that an entire page is showing all reverses while the other shows all obverses.

I'm sure there are comparable Canadian books.  I recently began dipping a toe into collecting Canadian currency since they're found here in the US.  I got the Whitman books and they're serving their purpose well, although the 1 Cent albums seem a little too tight.

I decided after finding a 1932 Canadian penny that I love my upstairs neighbors choice in design!

My preference is to organize coins by year (like year sets, but for circulating coins) rather than face value, but no album exists that follows this model. I'll have to make my own pages and my idea currently is to use pages for paper money in which I would insert a rectangular piece of acid-free cardboard with holes for each coin. I'm quite good at working with paper and cardboard so I know it could look really nice. If this works, each album would be organized by reign (the most obvious subdivision in Canadian coinage and currency) and include not only coins but also banknotes and other types of currencies. I want to see all in one place what was used, for example, in the late Victorian era or during WW2.

I have always disliked the pages for 2X2 flips because of their rigidity: 5 rows of 4 coins for 20 coins total per page with little room for a meaningful presentation. On this, stamp collectors have it much easier than coin collectors, and they have only one side to display…

Sounds like you might enjoy a small laser cutter for making precise arrangements.

That's a good idea. Will look into it.

I use these for my eurocoins. I combine on the same page the 1c to €2 strips with the €2 strips (for commemoratives).

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Ah yes — thx BramVB. It looks like each column can accommodate one full year of each denomination. When filled this must look quite nice.
