In July I got an email with promotion of new small auction house to sell various world coins. I did participate in their first auction and everything seemed normal, paid the invoice but got no replies expect once before their 2nd auction they will send next week. It was not sent nor I am getting any replies anymore.

Well, now when two series of auctions have been finished some of you guys may also have participated in their auctions. Did anyone get their coins?

I know I might be a fool but honestly thought it's rebranding the coinhouse auctions, as the listings were in the same style. The were slow and clumsy but at least honest.

I had the same feeling about them, rebranding of the old Coinhouse Auctions. But that guy went bankrupt and didn't send the coins out from the last auction. So I therefore didn't really trust De Munthoek and haven't done business with them. The company behind it also looks a bit fishy to me.

I hope I am wrong and they are just slow (as before).

The website is operated by a different (since 2020 dormant?) company (Gegevens van de geregistreerde entiteit | KBO Public Search) than who is mentioned as being the auctioneer (Gegevens van de geregistreerde entiteit | KBO Public Search).

Too few contact details for me to be trustworthy, so not touching it (yet). Also no information about privacy or GDPR, so clearly not in line with official guidelines. Can be an honest amateur … or a professional scam.

I do hope your coins will arrive!

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Thanks for the details. Also, worthy to note phone number is not functional, automatic secretary message answers. I can report it to the authorities but Belgian ones are notoriously chaotic and non functional (no wonder so many fraudulent companies operate there) so I am not sure how much sense does it have. Although do not know which amount exactly is considered by them worthy to act. But there were other bidders of course and with 30ish bidders we likely get to 5 digit sum per auction.

Here is a link to report consumer fraud. Caveat: only available in Dutch, French or German

I am very happy to announce here that I have received my coins from them.

I got another reply after this post here and some more details have been given for the delay and then surprisingly I got the parcel today. I would say it was worth the wait as coins are nice, as described.

Great news! I am happy for you.

Let's see if they have something interesting next auction then ;-)

Same case with me.. Participate on auction no 2. (6. September) paid invoice, and from then no answer to mail, no any info. But he already organize third auction. Invoice was cca 250€. Few days ago, I start EU procedure for customer protection.

Damn, a shady business after all then.

That procedure is probably your best bet.

Miraculously, I received an email apologizing that "my" package had been returned (I didn't receive any tracking number), and to resend my address. I don't know what to say. Numista have super power?

Good for you, although you still need to get the coins.

Hopefully they are just slow and clumsy, like their predecessor.

Yes, coins are not in my hands yet. If it is just about clumsiness, I´m OK with it, offer on auctions are good, not many bidders…

Hello there, just read your messages and I have to warn you all because the guy who went bankrupt with the coinhouse auctions is the same guy behind de Munthoek but under another name !! So be carefull with them.

To be fair, I finally got the coins. However, it's not worth the effort until you get what you win. I don't recommend working with this auction house at all.
