These coins (for example) have no script on the reverse:

Script field currently contains “unidentified” which is not correct.  Should be “none”.

Actually it is left blank when there is no script. Then on the coin page nothing shows.

Where does it say unidentified?

No - an unidentified script shows there is one there but it is unknown.

That must stay. Then, separately, yes get None added, as well -

but certainly do not replace.

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

 Example: N#19864

If I were the first member to add that coin, I would have no idea where it

was from and also what language it was. So would fill the rest of the page in,

and put ‘unidentified’ in the script box - as yes there is clearly some sort of lettering there,

but to me it is unknown. It would NOT be correct to chose ‘none’ from the list.

So keep unidentified, and add none as well.

Yes, I mean “none” for only those coins that don't have any script.

brismike - I'm talking about the options on the Search Page.  When you leave it blank on creation it goes to “unidentified” when you search for it.

I search for coins with "script: unidentified" to find coins that need modifying because whoever created the page was too lazy or in too much of a hurry to input the script and just left the script field blank (which then becomes “unidentified” when you used the search engine).  [Note only one side of the coin needs to have unidentified script for them to appear in the search results]

When there is no script on the coin the script is NOT “unidentified” but should be able to be input as “no script”!

You do realize the script field is a recent addition (circa 2022)? Many of the pages created before that was available obviously could not input the scrip.  So those whose created pages before they could possibly input the scrip were “ too lazy or in too much of a hurry?” Please get your facts straight before criticizing those who made Numista the best online catalog there is.

Whatever the reason, searching by script only works if the data has been input!!!

Why post in this forum? You are suggesting something you think will improve Numista.  Post it in the Numista website forum where it will actually be seen by those who can do something about it and also stay as an open item until resolved one way or another.  It's basically useless to post here.
