Euro coin collection storage (capsules/sheets) + share your collection

Hello everyone,

I have been collection coins since I was a child but lately I am trying to level up my collection. I have been collection mainly UNC commemorative 2-euro coins and I have been using a NUMIS album with their same-brand sheets. Will upload a photo of my collection in a bit.

1) I would like for people to also share how they organise their collection of commemorative 2-euro coins

2) Following a recent discussion with a fellow member here, he pointed out that storing (UNC) coins in sleeves of the sheet without capsule might compromise their value on the long term. Therefore I am thinking to switching to capsules and ENCAP sheets (+ new albums, GRANDE perhaps). Since that would require serious effort, both cost- and time-wise, I would like to ask for your opinion.

Note: I have been storing UNC coins in my NUMIS album for about 5-7 years now, they look as fresh as a coin from a coin roll.

Thank you in advance!

Hello!

Just to help you to make some considerations I'm going to write about my experience.

I use to store circulated euro coin in albums like your (other brands). Some of them are stored in plastic sheet since 2002. Periodically they develope a sticky patina that can be removed  with a soft cloth and denatured alcohol. I use it just for circulated and common coins in order to avoid surprises but it isn't corrosive and it doesn't affect coin colour. When cleaned they are still beautiful like when I found them.

I have some 2€ received in good quality capsules: they developed the same patina, less sticky, less noticeable but it's the same.

For UNC coins I also use self adhesive coin holders: some of them are in coin holders since 2019. I don't open them of course, so I'm not sure but visually they are the best preserved and always shiny.

I hope it can help you.

Antonio
