Hi Everyone

Need some expertise on estimate what this would grade at NGC?

Unfortunate edge nick..

TIA

Edge damage won’t effect the grade, but might add a damaged note to the certification.

As for grade, based on obverse (because reverse image doesn’t enlarge) I see wear, on hair, ear & cheek. Very little obvious cartwheel indicating more wear and some old or blunt scratches under the nose and behind the portrait.

With these observations your coin will not grade above low AU (probably not above high XF) so somewhere around there or lower, depending if the reverse is better or worse. Nice coin though 👍

You can do your own research this way:

Go to the website acsearch.info .

In the search box, type in 1829 Sovereign NGC XF45.  You will see this coin: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=11268553 ;

Then do the same for NGC AU50:  https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5217796

And for NGC AU53, etc.

Compare your coin, and you will have your answer, except for the question of whether there is something like cleaning that may downgrade it to a “Details.” grade.

… or you could send it to NGC for grading and you wouldn't have to guess.

Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
