Lately i bought a bulk lot of 30Kg..

Now i'm finishing the Malaysian coins, and it seems that this 1996 Ringgit have a bit of strange appearance..

It's overal looking weak, and perhaps even cast..

The weight is 8,8 gram instead of the 9,3 gram,..

To be honest i do hope it's a counterfeit, will be  a nice addition to my Malaysian collection.. 😁
Your opinion is appreciated.

Kind of has the same appearance as the earlier one:

Now you have got me thinking for those 1 ringgit coins I have with me. When I went though my Malaysian coins yesterday (looking for the 10 sen 1991), I believe I saw maybe 1 or 2 that are a bit unusual too. I will have a look later to see if I have them too. I have more than 10 pieces with me (both designs).😀

I probably wasn't clear. The picture I posted was the Numista picture for the earlier 1992 1 Ringgit.  N#3684

Maybe it is counterfeit indeed, but it does not look cast, imo.

...you can run,  but you can't hide...

I have 40 pieces of the RM1 and I think I found one. 😀

Sorry about the upside down pictures. Not that good with Iphone camera. This coin is 9.44g. The edge is partly milled. Something is missing here:-

Target weight is listed as 9.3g for both coin types. Assuming a typical range of +/- 2% and a tolerance range of +/- 4% that's 9.11-9.49 typical and 8.93-9.67 tolerance. Both are OK by weight.
