Hi all,

I got this sitting between a bulk lot:

Diameter 22 mm

Weight 3.95 gr

Numista image search suggests N#225807 but the diameter doesn't fit. I know literally nothing about this kind of coin, so grateful for any help in confirming or identifying  :)

It's the most common cash from the empire so you don't have to worry about it's genuity :)

Then … to find the exact reference will require a deep dive into the mysteries of Chinese calligraphy.😝

Right clic and open in a new tab, then enlarge to be able to decipher.

Suggest a reference and we will correct if necessary :)

Many thanks @Frenchlover !

And good grief! I may save that one for a rainy evening …

Don't worry, it's not that complicated, it's just the first step that is steep but fun.

@Frenchlover so, finally got around to this. I'm stuck between 22.221 and 22.251 :)

Hello

Take a look at the Boo something like   eee

You are near to have the good answer

Thanks @gros, I'm guessing 22.251 then … ?

Same player shoot again

the mint of the 22.251 is Yuwan

your coin is Chiowan

Ok, I'm throwing in the towel. I don't even know where to begin looking for the mint …

The Chiowan character is the right one on the reverse. This narrows down your options to H22.200-247.
I think that H22.225 or H22.229 are promising candidates:

no

 it doesn't matter

we are here to help you

you must not give up the mint is to the right of the eee

your currency is 22.225

it is a coinage which can be very interesting

I have become referee on Numista for these coins

I don't speak a word of Chinese but I can now read a few characters

Need some practice and it's more easy than many currencies

Thanks for that constructive input

here is the Numista file to add your coin

N#1133

Thank you, appreciate it!

This is an entirely different universe of coinage for me. I'm already expanding into way too many areas. Though fascinating, this one I'll try to avoid best I can ;)
