please set a new line for KM 243.

The coin is now only in UNC or proof. I have one that is in BU with a mintage of 9200

It is in a blister pack with a poststamp en this silver coin.

Krauze numbers are not globally unique. If you tell just number, you do not narrow it down to single coin.

True but the link provided does.

Oké, sorry. I did’t no that. But indeed, the link will help I think.

Greetings,

I suspect that your BU coins are already listed in that 1 million line. There is no physical difference between BU and regular coins apart from packaging.

The point about KM number in title was that it is harder to understand and evaluate your post, if reader has to press the link or has to guess which KM you are talking by reading post title. Having coin and country in title is more likely to catch attention of people interested in coins from Netherlands.

That's like saying there is no physical difference between Proof finish and regular coins apart from packaging.

No. Proof finish has difference in the way coin itself is manufactured. BU difference is in extra steps taken to preserve coin's finish.

I don't see FAQ justification for extra BU line and like I said 1 million coins in numista is 990800+9200 in Krauze. I would rather suspect that Krauze is missing BU release numbers than Numista is missing BU listing.

BU coins are manufactured a bit different from UNC coins, longer die pressure steps and pressed twice instead of only once as well as more regular die refurbishing ( → less output per minute).

But the physical difference of so-called “brilliant uncirculated” finish coins is rather small to barely noticeable (at least in the last couple years). I have gotten higher quality coins from cashiers than from some BU sets I bought recently (less dings, minor scratches and nicer surfaces).

A couple of definitions:

NGC - Brilliant Uncirculated - an adjectival grade which NGC defines as being MS 60 or higher

Royal Mint - Brilliant Uncirculated coins are struck to a superior standard than their circulating counterparts.

Your first link has nothing to do with minting process.  The second link justifies a year line for BU:

Varieties are determined by:

  • Specific strike processes (polished dies, proof strikes…)

And this in the Numista guidelines for year line comments:

Record further details specific to individual lines in the comments field:

  • type of strike, for example proof, specimen, polished dies, matte, etc. Do not record regular strikes in the comments.

Regardless, in the Numista catalog, year lines are routinely added for BU coins.

polished strike and proof strike are not BU

@Chefff Thank you for bringing this to the forum.

From the 2024 Nederlandse vereniging van munthandelaren (NVMH) muntalmanak (Dutch association of coin dealers coin almanac)…

2002 UNC - 990,800

2002 BU - 9,200 (for the package with the wedding postage stamps)

2002 PL - 80,000

I have added the additional line for the BU issue and updated the mintage figures.  Thanks again.
