5 Rupees - Wilhelm II Uniface pattern # 371789 [resuelto]

Why could this not be a pattern? It seems to be listed in SCWC as a pattern:

PCGS lists it as a Special Strike (pattern) and is of the same design as the 1 Rupie that was being minted (smaller diameter, silver).

Well, for this specific item in Numista, its reverse shows it is an error striking of the Kriegerverdienst medal. Besides the versions in www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=76047 there are more, like the two on  www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=120918 

The last are signed E W like the one in Numista. Pictures on 76047 are to small to see. I should find some better ones.

Then 5 rupien would have had a weight of 58 grams, way over any other coin in circulation.

By size it could have been ment to be a Maria Theresia thaler, but that would not fit in the pesa rupee system.

That all makes sense and I was obviously relying on PCGS and maybe SCWC not to make that kind of mistake. Do you have Schaaf catalog?  Does it also state the material is aluminum?  58 grams does makes sense (5 X 11.6638g = 58.3g).

Schaaf catalogue was printed 1979. Where he got his information? I don't know if there is anything in the mint records.

Weight given would be for an example in silver. Dating would be 1893 or before.
