Hi,

Yesterday I bought an unknown coin labeled only as “Germany 17th century”.

A few minutes finding the right search keyword and it turned out to be a 15th century Nuremberg half schilling: N#354399 .

But I still have some doubts if my identification is 100% right.

First, the lettering is not 100% identical, but it may be a minor variation.

Second, there is no small O under the N below the shield.

So, I want to ask to the German States experts if I picked the right coin page or if there's a better match that is listed or not here on Numista.

Thanks.

I am not a German States expert, but I am seeing MEDIVM SOLIDVS NVRNBERGE in the first photo no “o” beneath the N as you say, and MONETA NOVA ARGENTEA MI in the second.  The letterform of the A is distinctive, with the crossbar shaped like a V.

This one matches everything but the reverse legend ends in MIN'.  https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=7522605

Glad that you managed to figure the whole lettering, I wasn't 100% sure about one or two letters, specially the “NVRMBERGE” and the “MI” that were different from the catalog.

At the flip side, these older letters made me instantly realize before start searching that the coin could be older than what's written at the label.

So it is Kellner 110 instead of Kellner 111.

We already have Kellner 110 here N#132927 , but our page does not have a photo.

That's what was making me want to ask for a second opinion.

I'll work on the catalog photo later.

Thank you very much!!

Looking again at the photo, maybe the obverse legend has NVRMBERGE with an uncial m.

The …BERGE is quite clear, but the first letters are rather worn.

Likewise on the reverse, I am guessing a bit on the end of the legend (after ARGENTEA : ).  It looks like only two characters, with the first character worn down to a rectangle, and the second character an I, which could be consistent with m(uncial) I.
