Hi guys,

Wondering if you could help me to ID this coin and if it is genuine? It is 4.2gr and around 22mm

Thank you

Chinese cash of emperor Qianlong (also known as Ch’ien Lung or Kao Tsung), 1736-1795 AD.
Boo Chiowan (Board of Revenue) mint, Beijing

I see no reason to doubt the authenticity. The appearance is OK, millions were made, this is the most common Chinese cash seen on ID boards, and the value is relatively low, but yours is in nice condition and it's still a great piece of history to have in a collection.

I don't understand why Seeker55 is always pointing to Calgarycoin instead of Numista coin sheets which are far more detailed?

He may have shares in Calgarycoin website 🤣

Your coin:

N#1133

You can see that there are many varieties and the discovery of precise identification is a strange and passionate path …

Pick a reference and we'll correct if necessary :)

Yes, the Numista listing (which I wasn't aware of) has more information and is therefore a better reference.

At the same time, I respectfully submit that I don’t think it's appropriate for a Numista referee to disparage the contribution of another member.  The Numista guidelines remind us to be patient, and polite, and use good manners.

Thank you for your replies. My first guess would be 22.205? 🤞

I don't mean to hurt you in any way, but you always look for Calgarycoin instead of Numista.
You give an old reference of Emperor Qianlong with its transcription in Wade–Giles: Chien-Lung. It's not easy for a rookie, it's more effective to give the reference in Chinese pinyin: Qianlong.
I'm not criticizing Calgarycoin but hey ... we're on Numista and it's as easy to give the reference on our site as it is to look for old-dated references on other websites :)
