Hi
Here is a liard without date, made of copper, 25mm diametre.
I think it was minted in the bishopric of Liege under Ernest of Bavaria
I cant find which type it is nor find any references about it.
Would anyone have any clue?
thanks
JM

Edit: Sorry, I was wrong.
There were two places that struck copies of Liege coinage: Gronsveld and Reckheim.
I think this is a coin of Gronsveld. In the first photo we can see part of the legend that reads CO DE GRO for Count of Gronsveld, and on the other side we can see parts of LIBER BARO IN … for Free Barony of Batenberg.
I will see if I can find a reference. It looks like we do not have it in the Numista catalog yet, probably same type as this: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=1440141
Edit: Not listed in KM catalog, only Lucas and others.
Fantastic!
thanks for your wealth of knowledge
Shoud I try and create a listing for it?
I found another liard from Gronsveld among my coins waiting for identification
https://www.ma-shops.com/sesambestcoins/item.php?id=40686
should I add it as well?
Found the second one in Numista
I got there through my Internet browser
when i clicked on !gronsfeld to get all the coins it did not appear. I had to select “all coins”. Would appear this coin is not registered as a "circulation coin" in numista at the moment
Yes, please create a listing!
And I have modified the other one. Thank you.
Done
thanks
