Hi!
I just realised there are three different versions for coins depicting the Killer Whaler in the NK catalogue. I have Killer Whale (N#324493), Orcinus Orca (N#351810), and Schwertwal (N#351809). Schwertwal are written on all coins, and Orcinus Orca and Schwertwal are written on two of them, so I don't really know what to do here. I would prefer “Killer Whale”, since everyone knows it - but that isn't written on any coin, so I shouldn't do that. Then Orcinus Orca would be the obvious choice, but some coins only has Schwertwal written on them, so that could be confusing as well. So, should we go with both?

I just added another Schwertwal; N#356350 🤪

Orca and Killer whale at the same time?

I was thinking more Orca and Schwertwal, since those are the words written on the coins. Killer Whale will still be searchable since it's mentioned in the description.

Orca should do.

Idolenz

Orca should do.

Will people find the Schwertwal coins, then? I only learned yesterday that Schwertwal was Killer Whale.

It's in the lettering, so yes. But I don't know why the North Koreans use a German word in the first place.

Well, they also have a coin with the lettering товарищ: N#356361 🤷

Marx?

It's all for collectors only anyway. The North Korean will never see these coins, so the language doesn't matter. It's weird even to use English – the language of the enemy.

But that's at least the name of the ship in its original form not the name of a random animal and the coins are quite a bit to young to pander to East German development workers (or it took quite a few 5-year-plans to organise the material and equipment before they could make them 😂).

True. I believe its name today is Gorch Fock I. Maybe I should rename the page to Tovarishch then. Or should I transliterate it to Tovarisch? 🤔
