Very nice, Peter!
Aidan.
Interesting… I guess I expected more to change.

Takes Time & Money to design new stuff.
That is different!!
So used to QE2 being on the notes.
Still not gonna get any of pounds banknotes in my collection. Even though QE2 is German. And i despise Charles lol.

Queen Elizabeth II was born in the U.K., therefore, she was British.
King Charles gets a lot of unfair press - especially in the U.K..
I admire him for all the good he has done so far - not only through The Prince's Trust.
Aidan.
I have no quarrel with the King either - he is more sensible and compassionate than people give him credit for.
But that portrait is awful, the first thing that striked me about Her Majesty, was she was smiling - His Majesty looks a bit stern and timid in one. I am not asking for a cheesy grin, but at least a slight smile perhaps?
Hm, I hope they don't introduce a deadline for redemption of the QE2 portrait notes after introduction of the KC3 series, like they have done for the definitive postage stamps!

The stamps redemption was announced before the queen passed away so they could introduce the new QR stamps to stop them being reused. The deadline for the old non QR stamps is June now. Also there has been no announcement about King Charles stamps yet.
i still consider the stamp cancellation as a scam! They should allow us to use up our stamps - all my xMas cards went out with definitives on them this year to get rid of the stamps! Non definitive QE2 stamps do remain valid.

You will be able to use both type notes together.
Aidan.
Nice…
I like how they built on the continuity of the throne. It will be a comfortable transition this way.

It will be great to know both polymer note series will co-circulate - a bit like here in New Zealand where all polymer notes dated from 1999 to 2014 remain in circulation along with those dated 2015 & later.

I re-read the QEII thread from a while back & remembered peterjhalford's reply to when the first QEII designed notes first appeared. Turns out that Bermuda, Ceylon, Cyprus, HK & Southern Rhodesia, who all adopted her portrait in 1952, more or less used the same (or similar) designs that were employed for King George VI (her father). The only country that made a slight modification was Cyprus (5 /- changed from a green tone to browner imprint for the QEII note). This would mean that both King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II notes would have co-circulated back in 1952. (For how long would largely depend on how many older notes were out there & how aggressive the banks were ordered to cull the older versions)
In addition the Jamaica banknotes had King George VI on them until 1960, so they printed them for a fair few years.

Yes, & there could be other nations (like Canada) which may delay the transition (as Jamaica did). It will be interesting.
