1926 Peru Sol - .500 silver - is this just a poor try copy coin ?

I really can't see how this coin is genuine.

Diameter and weight are ok but the color and the texture just don't look like .500 silver. Other coins on Ebay look the same but those could be fake as well.

Above that the text is strange.

On the obverse the text is much closer to the date than the picture.

On the reverse the text is much farther from the column.

There is small lettering and large lettering variation for this coin. I dont have a different one to compare and 1926 only shows smal letter variation. For me one side must have small letter and the other one large letter for at least the text to be right.

Start with the basics. Weight, diameter, composition, exact date, etc. Then compare to a known genuine example. Ebay does not qualify authenticity and is only as reliable, accurate, competent and of the integrity of the seller. Apples to apples. The large and small lettering does not apply to the 1926.

Hi,

I see no differences to a “real” one, but we need the measurements

Nor is comparing it to a uncertified Peruvian coin listed for sale by a private seller in USACoinBook a good idea either.

In my opinion, the “Liber Tad” looks a bit off to me. Your coin looks like a lack of font and it appears it was just etched there hastily.
