Republic of China 1 Jiao "Fat Man Dollar" with Stamp

I have here a Republic of China 1 Jiao "Fat Man Dollar" with an extra stamp on the obverse face.  I will guess it consists of three characters enclosed in a common rectangular border, so were all applied to the coin or the die as a single operation.  My skill set is with Japanese coins, but it is sufficient to suggest to me that the characters in the stamp are not valid Sinograms (for me, Kanji).  Can any person comment on this feature?  One person has suggested to me it is a “Specimen” coin of Y-326.

Visual inspection also gives the impression the 壹 character on the reverse has an extra stroke at the top compared to Numista catalog images.  Finally, one might also think there is some evidence of a bevel on the edge, but no center line or breaks in the edge pattern.  My personal opinion is the coin is genuine.

Coin Details

Diameter 19.00mm as measured by vernier caliper

Thickness 1.25mm also measured with the caliper

Weight 2.734gm measured on a calibrated scale with claimed 0.001gm precision

All seem to be in line with an authentic coin.

I am sorry but absolutely nothing seems right except the weight and diameter to me about this coin.  Not even close to it with a simple comparison to verified authentic Fatman Dollars of this type. It simply looks like a poor replica attempt with flourish (“feature”) to add to the deception and confusion.   I can't tell you exactly what this coin is trying to be and why this “feature” but I am certain it is not an authentic Fatman Dollar of the period.

I have just had a private communication from a non-member.

He is born and raised in the Peoples Republic of China.  He recognized the stamp to read “Soviet”.  It seems to be as shown here in the catalog.

I missed the countermark during my review of the catalog (it is faint in the image).  Of course, it could still be a fake or imitation.

Any other comments?

fairfield

It seems to be as shown here in the catalog.

Not that one.  Reverse is different, like this one with counter stamp:  N#21486

Thank you harryg and rsirian1.

You are right rsirian1.  Even the face value is different, I was too excited.
