Hello

I wonder if there are any plans to add a section in "My Coin" where we can add the date, name & address of the seller and the price that we have paid for the coin?

It would also be helpful to be able to add the weight, diameter, thickness and die axis of our individual coin, especially with ancients where variations are the norm. Being able to add our own photo is great.....Thank you.

A further addition could be a field to record the provenance of the coin. This is becoming more and more important as fake coins improve in quality and quantity. This field would not have to be in any particular format, just an area where the collector could add collection, auctions or any other comments regarding the "Life of the coin".

All these details of our coins I suspect are collected by many of us and it would be great to have Numista as the one "go to" place for all the information on each of our coins.

Perhaps the extra space required for these addition benefits could be added to the " Premium Account", as the extra convenience of have everything together is indeed worth a Premium, and to some members this would be of no use.

This is a great site with amazing information.

Thank you to all those that make this possible.

Kind Regards

Michael

Hello,

You can now add much more information to the coins in your collection. The following new fields are available:

  • Slab information:
    • Third party grading company (only PCGS, NGC, NGC Ancient, PMG and CAC are available for the moment)
    • Grade (including designation, strike and surface where applicable)
    • Cert number (with link to the verification webpage)
  • Measures:
    • Size
    • Weight
    • Axis
  • Storage location
  • Acquisition
    • Place
    • Date
Example of a coin using the new fields

The acquisition price was already available. We didn't add a field for provenance: you can add such information as comment.

To start using these new fields, select them in your account settings.

Notes about translation

Year line with item in my collection:

  • When I upload a PDF file, and I click on the camera icon, the file is displayed with an English text “Download”. There is not a purpose general label with this text, only
    literature>download → Download

“Edit items in my collection” window:

  • Designation: There are two messages in English that can not be translated, but this is part of a bigger problem (see https://en.numista.com/forum/topic151380.html in the translators forum)
  • CAC stricker options (Green, Gold) do not have translation label

Notes about the interface:

  • If I add an item with CAC stricker = Gold, the year line shown “CAC Gold”, but if I select CAC stricker = Green, the year line shown only “CAC” (instead of “CAC Green”). It is correct?

  • The icons of year lines that were already there have alternative text, but the new ones do not.
Edit: I saw the source code and these icons are included in CSS, not in HTML.

Notes about the operation

  • The system does not removed the fields not used by a grading.

    For example:
    1. Add an item with
      - grading: NGC, value PF70
      - CAC stricker: Gold
      Save.
    2. Year line show: NGC FP70 CAC Gold
    3. Edit this item, change grading to NGC Ancient (PF70 is removed) with
      - Strike: 2
      - Surface: 3
      CAC stricker is hidden.
      Save.
(CAC value must be empty ❗)
    4. Year line show: NGC 2/5 3/5 CAC Gold
The CAC value is not removed. ❌
    5. Edit this item, change value of grading NGC Ancient to Gem MS. Save
(CAC value must be empty in the step 3 ❗)
    6. Year line show: NGC Gem MS 2/5 3/5 CAC Gold
The CAC value is not removed. ❌
    7. Edit this item, change grading to NGC with empty value.
      - CAC stricker is show with the old value Gold.
      - Strike/Surface are hidden.
      Save.
(Strike/Surface values must be empty ❗)
    8. Year line show: NGC CAC Gold
The Strike/Surface values are hidden (but not removed! ❌ see next step)
    9. Edit this item, change grading to NGC Ancient with empty value.
      - CAC stricker is hidden.
      - Strike/Surface are show with old values.
      Save
(CAC value must be emoty ❗)
    10. Year line show: NGC 2/5 3/5 CAC Gold
The CAC value is not removed. ❌

  • I tested and it is possible to hide all fields (including “For exchange”) but…. Is this correct?

Note: All fixed or answered. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic103866.html#p1232429

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

Thank you for adding these fields Xavier. This will be very useful going forward. Appreciate all your hard work.

I added the translation. (general>download).

“Edit items in my collection” window:

We will address that.

  • CAC stricker options (Green, Gold) do not have translation label

CAC provides their service only in English. I don't think it makes sense to translate.

Notes about the interface:

  • If I add an item with CAC stricker = Gold, the year line shown “CAC Gold”, but if I select CAC stricker = Green, the year line shown only “CAC” (instead of “CAC Green”). It is correct?

It was done on purpose. The normal sticker is the green sticker. Mentioning “CAC” only implies the normal (green) sticker.

  • The icons of year lines that were already there have alternative text, but the new ones do not.
Edit: I saw the source code and these icons are included in CSS, not in HTML.

      - Strike/Surface are hidden.
      Save.
(Strike/Surface values must be empty ❗)
    8. Year line show: NGC CAC Gold
The Strike/Surface values are hidden (but not removed! ❌ see next step)
    9. Edit this item, change grading to NGC Ancient with empty value.
      - CAC stricker is hidden.
      - Strike/Surface are show with old values.

    10. Year line show: NGC 2/5 3/5 CAC Gold

We'll fix that.

  • I tested and it is possible to hide all fields (including “For exchange”) but…. Is this correct?

I'm fine with allowing to remove all fields. But I noticed that if you remove all fields, you can't save the coin in your collection. We'll fix that.

Yes (the issue of messages in English is being followed in the translators forum).

Something that happened before but I did no take into account. I guess it is correct… but I write it here just in case: If you select grading NGC Ancient or PGCS Banknote, the year line shows only NGC or PGCS.

Yes, I believe it doesn't bring any value to show it in full and it saves space.  The full name is needed only in the form, because we show different grades between NGC modern and NGC ancient, and between PCGS coins and PCGS banknotes.
