Hi. I would like to know what ways people take pictures of their coins. What is the easiest system to take good quality pictures fast and have them loaded to computer quickly for use. Any ideas? I tried WhatsApp photos directly to computer, but pictures from phone are not idealistic. Does anyone use special microscopes?????
Coins are my way of learning history. My favorite is finding a coin in a country where it doesn't belong and figuring out how it may have reached that destination. AJL

Why use WhatsApp? It uses quite harsh compression and you could use a data cable to quickly upload your pictures or Bluetooth or a WiFi equivalent for a wireless option.
I agree that is why I asked. I think I will get the right lighting as recommended above and play a bit to find an easy way.

Here, using cellphone, it's in Portuguese, but I guess you can get the idea.
You can avoid shadow by using different light sources, but i thing it's important to have a main source, so you can use a bit o shadows to highlight the details. But raising it is a very good idea. Also, use the timer
I would love to be able to take professional pictures of my coin, but I also know that I'm not interested in putting money to get the equippment nor my time to learn the techniques. I'm just using my phone, try to get a natural lighting, and the result is in 9/10 good enough for its job - reflecting the visual of the coin.
My biggest problem, though, are all my coins in 2×2. The plastic often reflects in weird ways and it's really difficult to get good pictures of the coin inside.

I figured out that trying different apps for taking the pictures can help. The built-in app in my phone doesn't have macro option, for example.
When necessary, to make the picture closer to the coin, a bit of image edition helps.
I would love to know how to get good picture of coins in 2x2. Saw many reasonable ones already, but can't figure out how was made.
Thank you to everyone for you feedback, it has been helpful.
