I made this topic about the demonitaisation of Danish notes, here:

https://en.numista.com/forum/topic139316.html

In relation to that, since I know some people here also collects stamps.

From the new year, PostNord, the Danish/Swedish postal service has been set free, and will no longer be the state sponsored mail dilevere. This means a few things:

1) All Danish stamps will all be demonitised in the new year, for domestic use. I haven't figured out with international usage yet. I'm not even sure if there will come new stamps or if they'll be electronic with codes and stuff.

2) The price of mailing a letter will almost double across all weights and destinations. But they have all doubled or at least raised significantly in price every year for at least 4 years now.

I have a soft spot for origami paper cranes.
Read or watch about "Sadako Sasaki and the Thousand Paper Cranes".

Well, to more more precise - beginning January 1, 2024 PostNord Danmark no longer has a state concession on delivering mail to all households in Denmark. Which means the end of state funding of financial losses of the postal service.

The philatelic department of PostNord Danmark has of lately had the official address of a post office box, which means there is most likely going to be some big changes.

How will Danes be a able to send a letter to any household from A to B?

New postage stamps will be issued after all: https://netbutik.postnord.dk/befordringspligten-i-danmark-bortfalder-fra-arsskiftet

This information is tucked away on a page in the PostNord Danmark webshop.

In short: New postage stamps will be issued. “INDLAND” for domestic letters (with VAT) and “UDLAND” for letters abroad (without VAT). Old postage stamps are only valid for letters abroad since they were sold without VAT. There is not going to be a transition period, the new postage rates take effect 1 January 2024.

Postage rates are DKK 25 (€3.35) for ordinary domestic letters, DKK 35 (€4.69) next day delivery letters (both 100 g), DKK 50 (€6.70) for letters abroad (50 g).

Additionally it is possible to buy postage online. There are two ways to do this, either getting a code that has to be written to the letter (in place of a postage stamp) or the same code printed on an adhesive label.

Okay. But no transition period and informing the public less than a month in advance: That's brutal.

Outch. That's expensive.

Deutsche Post/DHL has a very similar system.

Thanks for all the information.

Thanks to the Danish parliament, they voted on the law only a few days ago.

Here is a picture of the stamps:

But will there be a stamp for the 35 DKK extra day delivery? And what about over 100g?

The label (not a postage stamp) for the “next day delivery” has existed for a while now and can be seen here: https://netbutik.postnord.dk/q-brev-frankeringsmaerker-10-maerker-a-32-kr.html

The text says that the letter must be handed in at a post office (posthus) to be handled correctly. I have never held one of these labels in my hands, but they look quite primitive and easy to forge.

When it comes to weight classes nothing has changed, it's still possible to send a letter up to 2,000 g - postage stamps available: https://netbutik.postnord.dk/frimaerker.html

In Sweden they have introduced postage codes instead of stamps. So when you pay the shipping in the app, you will get a 12 digit and letter code which you write in the upper right corner. The code is valid for 10 days.
