Mahatma Gandhi on banknotes

I have other circulated notes in this series but managed to get these UNC sequential.

The commemorative 1 Rupee coin was also struck in 1969 as well.

There are no Indian coins dated 1948.

The problem I have with the earlier issues of the Reserve Bank of India are the darn staple holes. Holes (or graffiti) are a complete dealbreaker for me. So its nice to see they've finally stopped that annoying practice in the more recent years:

BTW - did you mention staples and graffiti - 8 holes and some green ink

Ghandi also appears as a watermark on a number of the notes.

​Thanks. I have actually seen quite a few miss cut errors like this (on other 10 R) but besides the tiger (on the reverse) it was the serial number that hooked me on this one. (Great designs on these notes IMO)
