Poste San Marino SpA – Philatelic and Numismatic Division has prepared a special collector's set, sought after by the most discerning numismatists, containing the eight denominations of San Marino’s divisional coins and two commemorative €2 coins from the year 2022, all in the exclusive proof version.

The €2 coins commemorate the 530th anniversary of the death of Piero della Francesca and the bicentenary of the death of Antonio Canova. The obverse and reverse of the eight standard denominations (€2, €1, 50 cent, 20 cent, 10 cent, 5 cent, 2 cent, 1 cent) remain the same as those currently in circulation.

The first commemorative coin features on the obverse the iconic profile of the Duke of Urbino, a masterpiece by Piero della Francesca, one of the greatest painters of the Renaissance, created during his close association with the court of Urbino. With this issue, San Marino joins the broader celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the birth of Federico da Montefeltro, a model Renaissance ruler and enlightened humanist.

The second commemorative coin honors the art of Antonio Canova, marking 200 years since the death of the renowned Venetian painter and sculptor. The coin’s obverse displays a relief of the sculpture Hebe, a work created by Canova between 1796 and 1817 in four versions, now held in Berlin, Saint Petersburg, Chatsworth, and Forlì. The Forlì version was chosen for the San Marino coin.
