(en) Atelier Torbjörn Tillander was founded by Alexander E. Tillander, who was originally from Helsinki. He established the goldsmith shop in 1860 at the age of 23 in Saint Petersburg and supplied goods to the family of Tsar Nikolai II. The Revolution forced the Tillander family to relocate their business to their home country, Finland.
