Resumen

The pre-Roman coin finds in northern Veneto, corresponding to the territory of the present province of Belluno, are characterized by their limited number and by the uneven distribution of the data. Among the old and new finds, the presence of imitations of Massaliote drachmas and of the so-called Norican obols is particularly striking. The former are mainly documented in the area of Feltre, while the latter are mainly found in the area of Cadore. Greek coins are scarce: this aspect, together with the fact that pre-Roman issues in general are quite rare in the area covered by this contribution, is probably due to a dispersion of the material already found. Some of them may have ended up in local collections, but without any indication of their origin. The general picture of coin finds is still rather incomplete, despite the fact that in recent decades

there has been a marked increase in data and studies of material found in the area. The documented presence of coins from Noricum should also lead us to reflect on the circulation of these Celtic coins and how they may have reached the Veneto plain.
