Chris Rudd (ABC) ‘Sia Half’.
Talbot Anted SIA. A small issue not struck at one of the major mints. This includes Mildenhall, Cani Duro, Antedi Sia, Ali Sca, Esv Prasto and Ece A (Ecen Stepping Horse). There are only single examples of the Antedi Sia unit and half unit. They may come from Mildenhall, Suffolk, with the inscription linking them to Anted, and are the only Icenian coins with an inscription on a tablet. Sia may be related to Sca on Ali Sca, issues of which are also low weight and have a similar head on the horse.
Talbot Chronology: Gallo-Belgic E/Ingoldisthorpe - Early Local Period I (55BC-35BC) - Early Local Period II (35BC-15BC) - Denominational Period I (15BC-5: Snettisham - Plouviez - Irstead - Early Boar Horse) - Denominational Period II (5-25: Boar Horse B - Boar Horse C) - Denominational Period III (25-45).
Cottam and Rudd list one type:
COI 84 (ABC 1636) - Antedi Sia (1 known).
Cottam and Rudd Chronology: Gallic War Unity (55-50BC) - Post-War Austerity (50-35BC) - Peaceful Prosperity (35BC-20) - Client-State Conformity (20-47) - Claudian Regality (43-47).
SIA may have been the father of Antedios. SIA may have been the father of Antedios. However, the inscription is not clear on this or the other coin attributed to Antedios and Sia, Antedio Sia (ABC 1633). The obverse with a panel is better known under the Corieltauvi, where it is often blundered, and the Catuvellauni.
